This afternoon, after we finished up our school, I did a bit of last minute St. Patrick's day sewing. Tallulah was lamenting how she did not have anything green to wear and I remembered I had a yard of fun green floral seer sucker in my stash so I told her I would make her a skirt. Then, of course, Regan wanted me to make her something too and I was able to just eek out these shorts for her using the extra 1/2 yard.
For the skirts I did a basic elastic waist skirt with a small pleat a few inches above the hem. I think you can see the pleat if you click on the photo to enlarge it.For the shorts I used the PJ pant pattern from Weekend Sewing (I've made so many of those pants I don't even have to think about it anymore and I already had the pattern cut out) but just made shorts instead of pants. They come down to the knee, which Regan (and I) prefer. I lined the shorts since the fabric is very light weight.
I think both the girls are pleased with their new clothing and I know they will at least get one days wear, lol!
In other news. Some of you know this already, but we found out sometime last year that my husbands place of employments was going to be majorly downsizing (we are talking going from 6000 employees to less that 2000). We have been patiently waiting and seeking God for provision and direction over the last 6+ months and although we were never really worried, it has been challenging living in the unknown. I have wanted to share, but not known what to share so I have waited, and this week, we finally got the news. My husband is going to be able to keep his job! We are so thankful to be among the few who will remain, but also for the ways this past few months has pushed us to trust God and also live a bit more proactively.
