fruit of the Spirit

We are studying etiquette, manners and service this week and a part of that is learning about the Fruit of the Spirit and how our Faith(in Christ) is exhibited in our Works or behavior. One of our activities was to make a Fruit of the Spirit Tree from a branch and hang paper fruit on the branches. We decided to just add the FOS to our "Family Tree" in our kitchen.
Sorry for the bad pictures, but the sun is streaming in through the window right next to the tree and putting a nice haze on the pictures! If I actually watched those DVD's that came with my camera, I might know how to avoid/fix this, but I just have not found the time to do it... I will have to add it to my list of things to do. :)

thank you and another baby...

blanket! Here is my latest sewing project, but first I have to say thank you to everyone for the nice comments on our tabernacle! It always makes one feel good to have many people telling them how awesome their latest project is, weather it be for school or for fun, so thanks!

Another baby is on the way at church, and although it is not their first and there will be no shower, I could not resist making something for the newest addition of their family!
This time I bought a little extra fabric to make the blanket nice and big and also to throw together a few matching burp cloths.
Don't you just love this fabric?
I am off to work on my lesson plans, hope you are all staying nice in warm in your homes tonight (it is 28 here and still flurrying)!

snow day!

We woke up to this scene this morning. I needed a good excuse to take the day off today...
The kids are dieing to get outside and play, but it's not even 8am yet!
I wish I had another camera to take a picture Regan out in the yard taking this picture. She looked so cute tromping around in the snow with my big SLR camera around her neck!
Well, we better get out their and play before it's all gone! In 3.5 years of living here, we've never seen this much snow in our yard before!

the tabernacle

I thought we would never finish this in time, but today we buckled down and determined to get it done... and here it is! I wish that we had more time for this unit. I feel like we spent so much time making and not enough talking about what it all means. I have thought about carrying this over into our next unit, but we might just revisit this again when the kids are a bit older and might understand it all a bit more. It has been a fun project and I am sure that the kids got something out of it all :)

Here are two of the four layers that cover the inner courts.

The Holy Place where the Golden Lampstand, the Table of Showbread and the Altar of Incense resided.

The Arc of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies

The Inner Courts

The Gate, the only way into the Tabernacle.

The Outer Courts with the Brazen Alter (and sacrifice) and the Bronze Laver where the priest washed themselves before meeting with God.

who was I kidding?

Despite my best intentions I did not see much of the couch yesterday... except for the two hours I spend folding and ironing these

I guess calling in sick to motherhood is a bit unrealistic... My plans to veg on the couch (maybe even take a nap) sounded so good to me, but my kids had other plans... Instead we cleaned the house (at least 3 times), baked bread ...

and made this:
If only I could be this productive when I am feeling good! :)

calling in sick

Here is a little peak at my progress on my granny square blanket. I think it is going to be a lot of fun when It is all done... whenever that may be! I love working with all these bright colors in the midst of winter, I can't wait to curl up under it and keep warm :)

We've had some form of sickness or another going through our house for the past 3.5 weeks and I am on round two of a cold... I told Phil that I am calling in sick today... I plan on spending the majority of my day laying on the couch, maybe I will fold the 5 loads of laundry on the living room floor, maybe I will crochet a few squares... or maybe I will just veg out and let the kids fend for themselves for the day! TTFN!
