major progress

We spent the long weekend trying to put a big dent in our sub-floor painting experiment (that we started almost a year ago!).

We moved everything from the school/craft/dining room end of the great-room to the "living-room"...

there was a LOT of stuff in that half of the room!

Sweet Emmaline slept in her swing most of the day :)

We tore out the rest of the carpet and puttied the cracks...

painted the walls (everyone helped with this project)

then primed and painted the sub-floors!  Of course we only painted about 1/3 of the floor...

but we can just look at this picture and pretend the whole room is finished :)
Tomorrow we start moving the furniture back!

yesterday

While the kids painted in the kitchen...
I did a little painting of my own. We won't talk about how long I have had that can of paint and how long I have been planning to paint those lamps... or the fact that I also have plans to paint the bed frame too but it will probably take me another who knows how long to get that job done... Well, I guess we did talk about it then, didn't we? Oops :)
I still need new lamp shades for these, the current shades at 10+ years old, faded yellow, plastic cracking, "decorated" by children... you get the point. I already know what shades I want, just waiting for an extra few dollars to spend on them.

The kids painting was way more interesting then mine. They found these broken "palace pieces" (as they call them) in someone's trash pile in the neighborhood. I love it when they create their own art projects! This is Regan's
Max's
Tallulah's
Micah threw his "palace piece" away last week, so he painted this bird house instead.

water colors

I can't remember the last time I sat down and painted a picture. Last night, while the kids were at AWANA I decided to pull out some of the water colors the kids got for Christmas (I used the cake kind just because it was easier than getting out the tubes and my pallet) and my planner for inspiration. I really love Geninne's style, and since it's been so long since I painted anything I decided to start by copying one of her pieces featured in the planner.

I took these pictures last night, so the colors are a bit washed out because of the flash. I also couldn't get the intense colors that Geninne gets using the cakes, but all in all I think it turned out pretty well, especially considering I have not painted in years!
I enjoyed painting so much last night that I decided to spend some of my birthday money on some new paint supplies and I can't wait to spend some more time painting!
