i can cross these off my crafting to do list!

My friend Heather asked if I could make art books (like I made for my kids for Christmas) for her boys. I finally got them put together tonight, plus a couple extra that I can't decide if I should list them on Etsy or hold on to them for birthday presents? If I do put them on Etsy, I need a better name for them... any ideas?

For Heather's Boys

Because I couldn't pass up the fabric! =)

elijah

We are studying trust this month and today we read about Elijah and talked about how he trusted God to take care of him, even when he was afraid or did not know what was going to happen next. The kids had a blast acting out the passages that we read, here are a few pictures I took...

Elijah coming before the king to announce the drought (I kings 16)
King Ahab and Jezebel
The widow and her sick son (I kings 17)
Elijah praying to God to bring the child back to life (I kings 17)

We have also been reading through Little Pilgrims Progress and really enjoying it. The kids beg Phil to read more every night. I definitely would recommend this version of Pilgrims Progress for your kids!

my first felted hat

Here are some pictures of the girls modeling the hat. The flower pin came from Lori Marie at Pretty Little Things and was the perfect accent for our little hat! The hot pink stripes in the girls room make the hat look red, but really it is a deep pink, I would call it fuchsia, Lion Brand calls it Rose.
I am so thrilled with how it turned out, you just might be seeing more of these!

cathcing up

We had a fun week with Grammy and Poppy, but I am feeling dreadfully behind in everything now! We tried to play a bit of catch up this afternoon, after my parents left, but did not get too far. I finally gave up on finishing today's school and sent them out to play a few minutes ago. I am posting this quick blog and then trying to get dinner going and the house straightened for bible study tonight.

Here are a couple of pictures of some of the projects my mom and I worked on this week. My dad was busy fixing Max's bed (the one that got broken a couple of months ago), putting in a new garbage disposal, redoing the girls closet, repairing broken chairs and other miscellaneous jobs around the house. I asked him if I gave him too many jobs, but he said he likes to stay busy.

I have been wondering who could ever have a head big enough to warrant using the largest "Knifty Knitter" loom and then my mom came up with the idea to try felting a hat made on the loom. So, off to Michael's we went in search of some wool yarn for felting...
It is still drying, but here is what it looks like all felted and being stretched! I can't wait to show you what it looks like on someone's head!

I am working on these birdies as party favors for a baby shower coming up, hopefully I can make enough of them in time! My mom helped me cut some out while she was here, I think they are turning out pretty cute!

And here is where I say a big THANK YOU to Steve Demme. We have been struggling with place value for a year and a half and this week, with the help of MathUSee, it just clicked! Math has never been so much fun, the kids love Decimal Street (the poster they are building numbers on in the picture), even Max got into it!

Grammy and Poppy will be here any minute... The kids wanted to surprise them, so they are sitting on the steps waiting... like this =)

playing with trash

We went to Michael's today in search of a model boat for our next unit and picked up this.
As I was about to throw all the scrap pieces of wood away I though it might be fun to make pictures or designs with the scraps and started playing. One thing led to another...
and this is what my scraps of wood look like now.
I am still not sure if I am done, but it is late. Hopefully I can get a better picture of it tomorrow. I will have to play around with the camera a bit and try and capture it's 3-dementionalness (I think I just made that word up) a little better. If you are wondering, the blue background is painted, the small flowers and butterflies are decoupaged with scrapbook paper, and the large flower is tissue paper.
