we woke up to this...

They had been calling for 8+ inches of snow for our area starting late Friday night, but since moving to S. VA I have learned not to get my (or our kids) hopes too high when they call for snow around here. Needles to say, we were all pretty excited when we woke up to this Saturday morning!

The kids were soon petitioning me to get bundled up like this...
(Help, I've fallen and I can't get up! Remind you of A Christmas Story?)

And go out and play like this
Although it is still cold, the sun has been doing it's best to melt our winter wonderland away, but for now we at least still have a few inches of cold, white wonder out their and the kids aren't wasting one moment of it! Hope your weekend has been equally as wonderful- snow or no snow :)

7lbs 13oz, 19.25"

We are home now and doing well- resting and adjusting to life with our newest family member- I'll probably be back here sometime next week but for now I am way too busy snuggling my baby girl... as well as the other 4 who missed me while I was gone :)

40 weeks

Here I am- 40 weeks today- I am hopeful that I will be holding this baby in my arms before the week is over- I see the midwife tomorrow but my mom and I are headed to the mall to walk today in hopes that maybe I can get something going- I'm not holding my breath though!
Hopefully next time I am back here it will be with pictures of my baby and not my latest craft project or my ever-growing belly :) Happy Monday to you all!

more show and tell

I made this scarf for my mom for her birthday- the picture is a bit blurry (that's what happens when you try and take photos of yourself in the mirror with no flash and bad lighting) anyway- you get the idea. I had to get some help with the centers of the flowers, my pregnant brain just could not get it, but otherwise it was an easy scarf and fun to make- got the pattern here.

We've finished all the things I wanted to accomplish before the baby arrives so now I am having fun working on craft projects that got set aside during all that Christmas crafting while we wait. Two day's til my due date- I am ready, but not anxious or impatient- in a pretty good place I think for being (almost) 40 weeks pregnant!

what we've been up to around here

Things have been pretty non-stop-baby-prep here since my mom arrived last week. There has been lots of shopping (for baby things), washing and folding (of baby things) rearranging, sewing and other stuff. In addition to both my mom and dad and Phil's dad and step mom being here for the weekend we also had a last minutes baby shower at the house when the power went out at church, where it was supposed to be held! Whew! No wonder I am tired!

Here are a few pictures of some of the things we have accomplished...

Rearranging the Master Bedroom to make room for the cradle.

My dad made this cradle for me when I was a baby and all of my babies have slept in it. (It is loaded up with my hospital bags right now, ready to go anytime :)

I still have not gotten the pictures up on the wall (except that one that Regan hung over my glider) but at least my baby will have a place to sleep when she comes home.

Today we finished up the curtains for the babies room- window...
and closet door.
I think I am ready to just veg on the couch for the next few days until the baby comes, we'll see how well I do at that :)

show and tell

I know I have been MIA for the past week, but it seems like things have been moving at lighting speed the past week and I just have not had any time to blog! No real news on the baby front- I am a few cm dilated, but no real action- par for the course for me at this point :) We have gotten lots done around here since my mom arrived late last week, but I will save that for another post. For now I wanted to do a bit of show and tell... I finally finished Tallulah's blanket that I started in August.
I think you can tell from the pictures how much she likes it, and how much she liked modeling with it. I could not keep her off the blanket while I tried to photograph it- watch the progression of the piggies from the side of the blanket :)

coming along

Here is a little peak at our progress on the babies room. The painting is done and we moved a bed in for my mom to sleep on while she is here (the baby will start in our bedroom). We still need to get the crib out of the attic- it will go where the swing is, and eventually Tallulah will move in here too and the bed will be hers- but that won't be for awhile.

I still need to make curtains for the window and closet- I am thinking white eyelet- hoping to hit the fabric store this weekend and get them done before the baby comes. That blanket draped over the changing table was Phil's when he was a baby- his mom just brought it down when she visited last week- so fun to have pieces from our childhood for our children- my parents are bringing the cradle that my dad made when I was a baby when they come later this week!

Only two weeks left to go, some days I feel like I am going to go into labor any minute now and others I feel like I'll still be pregnant next month! Last night I was laying in bed just waiting for the contractions to start any minute because the baby seems to have dropped so low, but I woke up this morning still pregnant! Past experience says I still be around for awhile before we see any baby though.

the t-shirt say's it all!

p.s. so far I am impressed with the coverage of Behr's new paint with primer combo- it's covering that red really well, and on the first coat!

bringing in the new year with some "new" rooms

Here are some before and after- well not quite done "after" pictures of what's been happening in our house today... We still have some work to do- but I am amazed at how much we were able to accomplish thanks to the hard work of my husband and a couple of strong men who came to help move furniture (Thanks Rob and Scott!).

Before - Our Garage (not really accurate pictures- the book shelves, table and chalk board have all been in the dining room (our current classroom) for some time now and the TV and couch were out here- along with all the kids toys).

After - the boys have a new room! I plan to paint over the flowers and there may a few other changes- but for now this is it!

Before- the boys old room ( I could not find a more complete picture of their room before)- soon to be the babies room and then eventually the baby and Tallulah's room.

After-"ish"- we moved out all the boys furniture and taped the trim and went to Home Depot for paint! More to do tomorrow!
We also took down our Christmas Tree and put away all our Christmas decorations- Needless to say- it has been a FULL day and, even though I tried not to do too much, I am hurting, so we are tucking the kids into bed and I am headed for a soak in the tub!

Happy New Years to you all!
