i have a confession to make...

Not too long ago I blogged about how I knew Pinterest was all the rage, but I was happy with my little tumblr page to hold all my links to various projects and ideas.  Then shortly after that post a friend blogged about how she had finally succumbed to the Pinterest rage because of the organizational dream that it was.  She had me at organization(al).  So, I found my way over to Pinterest... just to check out her claims, and was sucked in immediately.

So without further ado... here is my Pinterest page

I saw a pin the other day and thought maybe I would share a few things that I have recently pinned and made.

First up, I made this delicious lemon peel-apart bread yesterday.  Oh so yummy!

I also made this pizza style monkey bread.  One recipe was not enough to feed our whole family so I  served the leftover garlic butter over pasta.  I will definitely make this again.

rainbow jello

Growing up my mom would make the prettiest rainbow jello- thin, colorful layers of jello, stacked in a clear glass casserole dish.  Recently she tried making it in a trifle bowl and loved the way it turned out.  This week the kids and I decided to try it out ourselves.  I am giving you the original recipe- I used 6oz boxes instead of 3oz and in the end I think the smaller boxes would have been better- It took a R.E.A.L.L.Y. long time for the layers to set and I realized after I poured the first layer that there was not enough room in the bowl if I used the whole 6oz./color.

Rainbow Jello

1 (3oz) pkg cherry jello
1 (3oz) pkg orange jello
1 (3oz) pkg lemon jello
1 (3oz) pkg lime jello
1 (3oz) pkg blue raspberry jello
1 (3oz) pkg grape jello
16 oz. sour cream
Cool Whip (if desired) to garnish

Dissolve grape jello in 1c. boiling water.  Add ¾ c. cold water.  Pour 1 c. of mixture into trifle bowl.  Chill until set.  Add 2 Tbsp sour cream to the remaining ¾ c. of jello.  Pour over set layer.  Repeat with each color jello.  Spread Cool Whip as top layer.

Caution: Be sure each new later is room temperature before adding to previous layers.

kitchen unveiling

We finished up the kitchen last weekend with only a few hick-ups...
like when Addie walked across my freshly painted cabinet doors dragging her toy lawnmower behind her :)
It is a bit overcast today but I have been putting off taking the pictures because I just have not gotten everything put away and picture perfect, but today I realized that just isn't going to happen, so here they are... dimly lit and "lived in".

We painted the door with chalkboard paint...

hung the plate rail...

and painted the soffit and the cabinets to match the other side of the room.

I even found a place to hang my Make It Do embroidery!

And just when I thought I was going to have a relaxing week with my mom, this happened.

I guess something got spilled on the carpet and I did not realize it.  The people who owned the house before us had pets so when ever it is muggy or warm in the house you get a slight pet odor. Well, when you add a glass of water to that and don't clean it up, it turns into the worst funk ever, with no fix other than to tear out the carpet.  We had to do this in Regan's room awhile back too.  I was happy to find the smell did not go past the carpet pad and the floors are not too bad off.  Looks like we have a new project on our hands this weekend... sanding and painting!

who needs toys...

when you have kitchen utensils to play with?
They are hard to resist when the kitchen drawers are lining the floor in our dining room.
Grandpa and Grandma B. are here this weekend and we are quickly knocking things off our to do list.
One of those things being to finish painting the kitchen.  It has only been 9 months since we started the job!
The soffit and frames are done, and the doors are waiting to be cleaned and painted.  We are also painting the door to the garage with chalkboard paint and hanging the plate rail today too... Lord willing :)
Hopefully I will be back with "after" photos on Monday!

a new roof!

This was the scene at our house when I left for the craft show Saturday morning...

By the time I got home they were finishing up the front of the house.

And here it is all finished!  The kids say it doesn't look any different... really getting a new roof is one of those things you have to do that just isn't as exciting when it's all said and done as say, a new craft room or a kitchen remodel, but we are glad to have it done!

our first craft show

My friend Diana shared a table with me at the craft show today.  It was way more fun having a friend to sit with all day.  The other ladies in our room were really nice too.  We didn't sell a ton of stuff, but we still had a good time.  We've got another show next month, so hopefully we will do a little better then.

Dianna makes these super cute Snugglies, they are like a lovie that you can attach a paci to.  She's on Etsy too, go check out her shop and buy something :)

I got a bit of sewing done in the past few weeks and will try and add some new pieces to my shop this week.
