So, it has taken awhile, but I think our house is finally done. I tried to keep the basics of our house true, but make it a bit more playful. I have done other paper collages before, but this is the first time I have done a mixed medium collage. It is mostly paper, but I did do some painting too and I also used words this time (I printed poems and verse on the paper used for the house and then painted over it in white). I think that this is something I would like to experiment with more in the future...It is fun to see our children get inspired by the things that they see us doing. Yesterday, while I was working on the house, Regan decided she wanted to make her own house too. It is still a work in progress, so I will have to post a picture of it later, but she is doing an excellent job!
Here are some other paper collages I have made. The first one is a project that we did in MOPS this year (I was the craft coordinator for our group). It is supposed to be a magnetic message board, but how can I cover up those cute birdies with scraps of paper and magnets? I think I will hang in the hall with all my other collages. (sorry for the crooked pictures). This is the first tree I did a couple of years ago. Recently I did another one for a friend to put in her babies room, I don't have a picture of that one thought.
Recently I have seen mushrooms popping up everywhere. I just got some really cute scrapbook paper with mushrooms all over it. You just might see some mushrooms popping up in my next project(s) :)

Amazing! Absolutely splendid. Do you sell these? I love love love the one done on the cookie sheet! You are entirely, completely the creative bomb!
Deb, Thank you! I think I traded the one I made my friend for some stamps (she does Stampin' Up), but I have never sold one. Someday when I get myself really organized I might open an etsy shop. For now I just do stuff as people request and as time allows.
That magnet message board is ADORABLE! I feel a project coming on!!
thanks for sharing. Your collages are really nice as well (I just think I might could actually do the magnetic message board LOL)
those are wonderful! what kind of material do you recommend for the back? canvas?
Chickadee,
Thanks! For the house I used a canvas on a frame. The branch and birds are on a cookie sheet from Walmart and the tree is just on a piece of card stock. I am considering just using pieces of wood for my next one, plain or painted. Mod Podge is pretty versatile as far as surfaces it will work on.
